Who Needs The Institute of
Myofunctional Studies?

A dentist or orthodontist will refer patients with an overbite, underbite, or crossbite if they have a deviated swallow that is impeding the progress of their dental treatment.

Speech patients of all ages are often referred to the Institute by therapists, doctors, and previous patients. Myofunctional Therapy can often resolve issues for children who have had extensive speech therapy without success.

Individuals with various conditions / syndromes (Down, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Hearing impairment, Learning Disabilities, etc.) often have myofunctional / oral motor difficulties that impact speech, eating, posture, balance and body strength.

Some Myofunctional Therapy patients suffer from multiple symptoms such as eating and breathing difficulties or poor facial muscle tone. In many cases, the symptoms are rooted in a mild oral deformity or bad habits.
